Biography: John Destacamento began as a fitness enthusiast in 1991 when he decided to join a local gym. “Throughout my college years my height was 5’3” and I weighed about 121 lb. My body size was a constraint on what sports I could play and be good at. This frustrated me for years and it felt that I was living 50% of what I could physically be.” So John hit the gym and after a few months of weight training, he realized all the dramatic changes to his body. These changes inspired him to become more enthusiastic towards bodybuilding. Although professional bodybuilding was not his cup of tea, John felt fascinated on how competitors can achieve so much size in so little time. “I subscribed to 3 to 5 fitness magazines a month and did a lot of reading. I understood that fitness magazine articles and their content was just a bunch of hype but unlike books, magazines have many colorful pictures that inspired me.”

After a year of training himself in the gym, John reached approximately 155 lbs at a lean 14% body fat. This was an increase of around 34 to 40 pounds of pure muscle within a year! “I couldn’t believe I was able to leg press nearly 7 times my body weight and bench press more than double my weight. It felt truly amazing!” “My friends saw the dramatic changes and a few of them began to ask for advice.” This triggered John’s intentions on becoming a trainer. Soon he completed a national personal training certification and began training clients on a part time basis.

Throughout the late 90’s John developed creative fitness programs that involved compound circuit training and core integration exercises. These methods involved pyramid techniques to increase the body's neural demand during a workout. This led to
efficient energy stores and longer effective workouts. His programming included a detailed multi-day split training programming involving irrelevant muscle groups to be trained on the same day while the remaining groups to be trained on different days. These specialized rotations and techniques were used to produce several successful clients in resistance training.

In the early 2000’s, John decided to pursue personal training on a full-time basis, leaving 12 years of the manufacturing field behind him. He became a trainer at 24 Hour Fitness, where he began an endless quest on helping people get into the best shapes of their lives. During his employment at this large fitness chain, he was able to gain savvy experience in a fast pace environment. John was a dynamic trainer producing consistent results for clients in all categories. Whether it was weight loss, muscle gain, endurance, toning, performance or just maintaining a healthy lifestyle, John gave 110% percent effort towards achieving successful clients. After 3 1/2 years with 24 Hour Fitness, he realized that he wanted to continue his fitness services in a more exclusive and personal environment, and this was when Sweat Studio was born.

Professional History: John has over 8 years experience as a certified personal trainer and 16 years as a fitness enthusiast. His national certifications include NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), previously with ACE (American Council on Exercise, ) and with APEX/CPT (24 Hour Fitness). John has trained over 600 clients and some of them are still active clients as of today.

He has extensive background in small business and manufacturing along with a BS degree in Industrial Technology. For a combined 11 years, he was formerly employed as a Productivity Analyst/Planner by large corporate firms such as Silicon Graphics Inc, Motorola and Applied Materials. He also has 17 years experience as a Disc Jockey that led to owning his own music production company and Internet promotional service.

Personal Fitness Objective: “I’m eager to seek new missions and challenges. My personal fitness objective is to become physically fit in many different categories. In the past, I’ve succeeded in developing power and strength but now I want to pursue on being great in agility and endurance. I’m older now and it’ll take more hard work to reach my goals, however I’d like to consider that the age factor is based on how old you really feel. And In that case, I’m 23 again! (at least for a couple more years!)
